Baylor University has teamed up with Edwards Performance Solutions to offer their renowned Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) bootcamp. Completion of the bootcamp enables attendees to sit for the Certified CMMC Professional (CCP) certification exam. CMMC, described as a game changer for DoD contractors, will be included in select DoD Requests for Information and Requests for Proposals. Failure to achieve CMMC can result in not being awarded DoD contracts. The CMMC 2.0 ruling is increasing that scrutiny. The full proposed rule announced December 26, 2023, can be found in the Federal Register and is open to public comment until Feb. 26, 2024.

Baylor’s intensive five-day CMMC certification bootcamp classes will be offered both in-person and virtually to accommodate professionals across the nation. The first in-person session is scheduled to be held at the new Central Texas Cyber Range at Baylor’s Research and Innovation Collaborative (BRIC) in Waco, Texas, on February 12. Virtual classes, also led by cybersecurity subject matter experts, are scheduled to begin March 4. Additional in-person classes are scheduled to be held at Baylor’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing Academic Building in Dallas, Texas, in June and July.

Baylor has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Baylor is positioned at the forefront of cybersecurity research, as exhibited by the Cyber Security Research and Education Initiative. Working with foremost industrial and governmental partners, Baylor University seeks to harness the power of leading professionals to provide both a research perspective and an opportunity for students to learn from the best.

The CMMC certification bootcamp course offered by Baylor in collaboration with Edwards will fill vital roles, providing the certifications professionals need to continue contracting with the DoD and the groundwork for those looking to join the cybersecurity industry.
